Three generations of women...and the secret that strengthens their love.
A line of women, all named Amanda, stretches back for generations. Each with her hopes, her joys, her pain—each pouring out her heart in correspondence with a dear family friend who shares their lives, understands their loves, and joins in their sorrows.
But within the correspondence lies a secret. And as the youngest of the Amandas retraces the journey through the years—beginning in post-war America and following through to modern day—the letters reveal, layer by layer, the Amandas who came before her. Soon, the truths and lies hidden in the letters lead her down a path of self-discovery that forges a bond between her past and future.

Can there really be love at first sight?
Abigail Martin doesn’t think so, unless the sexy redheaded stranger she wakes up with the morning after her best friend’s wedding is telling the truth.
Bobby Stockwood fell cowboy-hat-over-boot-heels for the brown-haired beauty, and married her in an impromptu wedding ceremony. Now he just has to convince his new bride that the morning after can be the first day of the rest of their lives.
But just when Abigail starts believing the fairy-tale is real, she finds out exactly who Bobby is, and the walls of make-believe start crumbling down.

There is only one word to describe this novella — adorable! While readers miss the couple’s “meet cute” the truth is that we don’t need to know what happened the first night they met because Abby and Bobby’s entire relationship is heartmeltingly sweet. This is a morning after that readers will not regret one bit. ~ 4 Stars
This is a really fun read that is based on falling in love at first sight. Abigail and Bobby are extremely likeable characters and they have great attraction between them. The western setting is realistic and adds strength to the storyline. The story flows very naturally and is well-paced; I even held my breath towards the climatic scenes near the end. I heartily recommend this book. ~ 5 Cups

Cheers to Whiteside for writing a heroine who exists outside of conventional romance novels in terms of age and marital status...novel is written with a pleasantly light sense of humor...
Brenda Whiteside writes with a voice that keeps the reader coming back for more. I recommend Sleeping With the Lights On for the hair-raising suspense as well as the melt your heart romance. ~ 4 Cups
"Sleeping with the Lights On" has lots of quirky characters: Wesley the rich sort of boyfriend, his tenant Eva and his ex-girlfriend Azalea each lends a new facet to the storyline. It was fun watching Sandra and Carson’s relationship develop. "Sleeping with the Lights On" is a wild ride that fans of romance will want to take. ~ 4 Stars

Whiteside is a lovey story teller, who gives us vivid mind’s eye pictures of the people, the surroundings, & the emotions of her characters. I have read her other books, & enjoy them all.
This was a wonderfully spun novel. It really had the feel of post WWII life. Claire and Benjamin’s love story though quick and with the feel of first love really has you rooting for them. Brenda Whiteside manages to paint a vision of life in that time as both fanciful and realistic.
The story is filled with intense emotion, captivating scenes, and unexpected twists. An enjoyable read.
